Thickness VS surface profile

HEllo,

is there a relationship between thickness and surface profile tolerance.
I.e - there are features that is called out thickness of +.002"
and at the same time surface profile of .020" on both faces.
is it contradicting ?

I am not sure it is contradicting.
Do you have a sketch to post? Is the feature a regular feature of size?
