I am currently designing a closed loop thermosyphon to lubricate and cool a mechanical seal on a centrifugal pump. API 682 gives some guidelines on this subject but I am looking for more detail. Because of limited space, I am trying to determine the greatest vertical distance I can place the oil cooling reservoir from the seal and still have sufficient flow. Are there any good references available that can help me with this design?
