Hi all,

I'm looking for thermal contact coefficients for Al2024-T351 / Ti-6Al-4V interface, Al2024-T351 / Steel interface and Ti-6Al-4V / Steel interface, varying with applied pressure.

I looked in ASM, NACA, MIL-HDBK, various heat transfer handbooks but I could not find reliable information. Graphs found in the internet are all very different, and provided information is absolutely not in accordance.

Do you have any idea where I could find such information? Even if materials should not be the same, for a start it would be enough to have thermal contact coefficients for Al / Ti interface, Al / Steel and Ti / Steel.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Alberto

Alberto,

In Heat Transfer by J.P. Holman (McGraw-Hill) 4th Ed., there is a table 2-1 showing data for some metals as function of roughness, temperature and pressure. The chapter2-10 explains the reasons for the scarcity of reliable data. It also brings a worked out example.

Suerte.
