We are using a drawing (4-12-07) for a new steel erection project started in January 2008, referencing the "ninth edition of the Steel Construction Manual"
I understand the 13th edition is the current document.
Does the ninth edition reference AISC 346 (cancelled in 2005) and replaced by AISC 360-05?
We keep finding references to AISC 346 currently; in particular "Design Formulas for Gapped K-Connections, and T-, Y-, and Cross Connections Stiffened with Plates." Section 8 in correspondence from our Safety Group.
Are stiffening plates still recommended for K-, T-, Y-, connections?
Thanks.
I am not a structural engineer, my specialty is Marine O & M engineering.
