Thought I would just start a thread here for discussion. Not clear yet how much will be released for public consumption, but enough to attract some opinions, I'm sure.

Thanks hokie. The political circus continues. Next the talking heads will be accusing Mueller of collusion.

For the record... The entire 'Mueller report' [scanned, ~138Mb] from Justice department... not just the bare-bones Barr Summary...

Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election, V1, V2

Good, that's the 'searchable' version. The first version released was literally only a 'scanned' copy consisting of nothing but dumb images. That was the one I first downloaded but later replaced it with a copy of the searchable version. My wife went to Barnes & Nobles and bought the soft-cover version published by the Washington Post (she likes books that you can hold in your hand). I finished reading the report (all 448 pages) a few days prior to Mueller testifying before Congress. Not sure how much my wife managed to get through, but I think she read most of the more interesting sections.

Anyway, it's worth the time, if for no other reason than knowing what was actually in the report versus the so-called 'Bob Barr' version, where the AG's conclusions bore little or no resemblance to what Mueller and his team had documented in the actual report. Only time will tell, but I suspect that history will report that Bob Barr did a disservice to the citizens of this country by releasing his four-page 'report' and then sitting on the actual report for another month, with only his misleading conclusions being available for mass consumption. By the time the actual report was available, in it's redacted form, the vast majority of the people had already been led to believe that Barr's conclusions represented what Mueller and his team had found. It only takes reading the first three or four pages of the report to blow that idea out of the water. Mueller and his team prepared a series of 'management summaries', which had already been scrubbed of grand jury and classified material and which were written with the intention that they be immediately released to the public. The remainder of the report, which included material that Mueller honestly didn't expect the public to see, thus the redactions, was intended to form an historical record which would be available to Congress, and to future prosecutors who would not be encumbered by DOJ rules governing the application of the law to a sitting president.

Unfortunately, it appears that Barr's actions have produced the desired result, the vast majority of the people are not taking the time to read the report, and this includes a large number of people in Congress. Even FBI Director Christopher Wray has admitted that he's not yet taken the time to read the Mueller Report, which is scary in so many ways.

Anyway, please read the report and draw YOUR own conclusions.

Get over it, John. That is done and dusted, as is Mueller himself. But hopefully, the IG will get to the bottom of how the whole witch hunt started.

hokie66, have you read the full Mueller Report?

Certainly not. I won't waste my time reading a report written by a bunch of lawyers who are "hate Trumpers", obviously hiding behind Mueller's reputation. Sad to see his last public assignment resulting in his legacy being besmirched in this way.

YOU started this thread, which ostensibly was going to offer people the opportunity to discuss the Mueller Report, and now you say reading it would be a waste of time. How's that supposed to work? I suppose that you're one of those who are going to go with Barr's four-page summary, eh? Well, if that's true, you're really missing the whole story if that's all that you're going to depend on for the 'facts', as they certainly won't be found there, since it was written by a Trump sycophant. I think it would be best for everyone, if we would all read BOTH sides of the story.

Did he read the report? Dumb question, John. StormTrumpers* don't read.

Edit note: "Trumpanzees" was changed to "StormTrumpers". Apparently, the former is deemed racist due to the historic association of Trump's primary support base with jungles and primates.

I have now read the executive summaries, which tell me all I need. If they had any good evidence of a conspiracy between the Russians and the Trump campaign, surely Andrew Weissmann and his cronies would have found it. I give them credit for finding a lot of Russian attempts to influence the election, and they indicted a bunch of Russians, but that won't come to anything. And they found in their exhaustive peripheral searches some shady dealings by Trump associates, but not him. As to obstruction, he only tried to defend himself and his administration by obstructing injustice.

TheTick, in today's context, sounds racist, but I won't take offence.

Sycophants, Trumpanzees, StormTrumpers. Sounds a lot like "Basket of Deplorables". Keep it up.

If the shoe fits...
