Um. That is an alloy with about 1.5% Chromium content by design, not sure you will be able to "strip" it of chrome without dissolving the part in acid, at which point the part is gone...
A copper sulfate solution is commonly used to show presence or absence of plating after a stripping operation on ferrous substrates. In the absence of plating, the copper sulfate will "plate out" copper on the substrate. The copper can then be removed after the test with house hold ammonia
