An evergreen standard, 'Black Orpheus', played by the pianists Kenny Barron and Brad Meldhau, a very suggested view, excellent soundtrack as well in HQ
Finally got around to watching it. Pretty cool. Now I'm going to have to find the movie 'Black Orpheus' on DVD. Saw it many years ago. From Brazil as I recall.
I myself never had a chance to watch the movie and now I'm curious, even though it's supposed to be not too cheerful, not too recent as well (takes place in Rio carnival, 1959).
More renditions: the following from Paul Desmond, one of the more elegant voices in alto saxophonists
On youtube there are also excerpts from the film, the very beginning is great, with Jobim playing (and singing) felicidade, another favourite standard of the jazz giants.
