Can anybody help or suggest ..........have 1938 plymouth sidevalve six in very good condition have just done 1000 mile run no problems BUT LRP fuel [lead reolacement petrol] no longer avalable only unleaded, do any of the TEL replacement additives work to stop valve recession eg Wynns about the only stuff available in South Africa, thanks

the alternatives will work to slow down valve recession. given the fact that it is a sidevalve six engine, it most likely runs at rather low speed, so a additive that slows down valve recession may not be needed at all and thus you could run the engine on unleaded fuel which will have a octane number far higher then available when the engine was designed.
