Hi everyone,
I have modeled a 2-story R.C building in Tekla structural designer 2017 and tried to run the analysis but the software does not apply the load combination generated on the structural elements instead only a few of the elements are designed for individual actions of the dead and imposed loads applied on the structure. This leaves elements such as the slab and a good number of beams not deigned or under designed. With the auto design option unchecked, the same problem surfaces, may someone help me out on the possible error I might have in the model. One thing I noticed is on validation of the model, there are linked members (beams) which are in different design groups and yet the software requires that all linked members must be in the same design group. Could this be source of my problem? And how do I remove the link between the members?

I would recommend emailing support and sending them your model. They will be able to look at what you've done and tell you how to fix it: tekla.support.us@trimble.com Go to file > save model only to save a small file that you can email to them. Make sure you have created LRFD combinations for concrete design. Also go to groups tab > right-click on the concrete beam groups and say regroup. That should fix the design group issue. The slabs you have to design separately, go to the design ribbon and click on slab design. I hope that helps! good luck!

Thanks a lot MRennick for this great response. It has helped though it is a bit late. I have been able to correct the validation errors by redrawing a new model and also noticed from your reply that the slab is designed separately from the finite element results after meshing is done. All in all I have got familiar with the software and can model with ease.
