Technogel info required 3

Hello
We are currently designing a product that we feel would be perfect for the material Technogel. We have some samples,
and I have been in touch with Technogel in Italy. They have been helpful up to a point. When we ask how this material is molded they become very cagey.(they say they are the only ones able to process and mold it.)
Would anyone here be able to help us. Are there other materials that have similar properties and characteristics?

Technogel sounds like a trade name.

If so and if your supplier is withholding details about it's chemical type, I would have serious doubts about their integrity.

Ask them for an MSDS and for a CAS number.

That should identify the polymer type and give us a starting point re recommendations.

Google for Technogel gives plenty of links including this one which says

"The padding of the K&K collection is made of Technogel®, a material developed in the medical field produced by Technogel S.r.l, under an exclusive worldwide license of Bayer AG Leverkusen, who si the patent holder.
The Technogel® is a polyurethane substance without plasticizers, manufacturde without the use of any adhesive nor seam and without any protective film."

Looks like it a very soft PU and is likely RIM molded. There are several companies in the US with not quite similar products. There are a number of companies also supplying SEBS based thermoplastic materials that are processed into Bike gel seats and shoe inserts. If you are in the US and would like to look into that methodology, you might contact GLS Plastics at 815-385-8500 or others that supply this kind of material.
