Hello,

I wondering what a good method of drawing a tapered,
rectangular tube with radius corners would be. I've
made a solid piece, but I do not know how to make a
tapered extrusion to alter it from solid form to tubing.

Here is a picture of what I am trying to do:

How about a swept blend and then shell?

You could use a VSS if you have one end defined and the angles. A Blend doesn't give you direct controls of an angle parameter. You an also create an extrude and add draft (or an extrude with built-indraft in Creo).

Once the drafted rectangle is created add rounds and shell.

CMac: I'm currious what your material is. If it's plastic, no problem. If it's metal, how are you going to produce this? Wall thickness and depth are issues if you extrude it. Obviously, lots to consider.

The material would be billet aluminum. I would be
machined on a four axis CNC machine.

I couldn't get it to come out via an extrusion method,
so I went ahead and taught myself how to do the
swept blend method. I basically just calculated the
sides of the triangle and drew one to get the correct
angle of taper.

I drew half of a rectangle, with radius corners, and
then drew a taper, with the radiused lip at the top,
and then drew the same thing at the end point. I had
half of a runner so then I mirrored it.

I don't understand how to do a swept blend on
something that's enclosed, such as a circle, rectangle,
etc.. Can the start point also be an end point?
