I am investigating the requirements of relocating a tank. The tank is small enough that it will not have to be dismantled to be relocated.
The tank service will change, however the tank was designed for a larger specific gravity and design pressure. Inspection of the tank has been carried out per API 653 and there are no issues with the component thicknesses, etc.
I have skimmed through API 653 and it addresses reconstruction, repair, alteration etc. None of these really apply, however they all indicate that the tank would need to be checked to the current tank standard.
My question is regarding anchoring. The tank is currently not anchored. If checked to the current edition of API 650, the changes in the wind calculations would require the tank be anchored. Do I need to meet the anchoring requirements of the current standard?
