Tailpipe Mach Number 1

Can the Mach number be allowed to reach 1.0 in the PSV disposal system piping?

Not a good idea on a new installation. Generally Mach is limited to about 0.75 Mach in tailpipes and 0.5 in headers for new systems. For revamps,it is acceptable in existing piping as long as noise and vibration are taken into account.
