we are planning for the field test for our on-site generators prior to arranging for the vendor to perform the start-up tests.

On top of IR Tests we normally carry out, I have the following tests in my mind for the field acceptance tests, which are part of NETA recommendations:

• Stator and rotor cold resistance test shall be measured.
• Insulation Resistance test shall be carried out on insulated bearings in accordance with Manufacturers’ published data.
• Vibration tests shall be performed. Vibration amplitudes of the uncoupled and unloaded machine shall be in accordance with manufacturer's data. In the absence of manufacturer's data, vibration amplitude shall not exceed value in NETA standards.

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

Regards

NETA will also specify either a torque check of all bolted connections or a u-ohm test of bolted connections. This should include the power cables and control / sensing cables and terminations.

Not sure what types of generators you have, but here are some others that may be appropriate.

Lubricant or fuel analysis
Bearing temperature
Infrared thermography
Polarization Index
Measurement of coast down time
Borescope / visual inspection
