Symposer behaviour

Does anyone have any idea how the "Symposer" (new gadget from Mann & Hummel) behaves acoustically? Their press releases don't really give much away - just colormaps of interior noise with & without. I was wondering if someone had actually tested one in isolation.

No, but here is more:

The symposer transfers engine-generated pulsations from the air intake into the passenger compartment, thus recreating the engine noise. Similar sound-design components have been available for some time on top-line roadsters but Mann+Hummel believes its version is the first that could be economical for more mainstream vehicles.

I believe this may be used on some Jagwars.

Could be a tube. For all I know.

It is a little pot with a moveavble membrane connecting high and low pressure sides. I've seen all the pictures and read the adverts. Just was hoping someone had TL tested one to see how "acoustically transparent" it really is.

Well, how transparent do you want?

Big hint, for setting the knock sensor up the calibration beards use a piece of brake pipe and a coffee cup. You stick one end of the brake pipe near the head, and the other end somewhere near your ear, using the coffee cup as a resonator..

Works a treat in cars and dynos.
