SW2008 ship date

Has anyone heard if the ship date for SW2008 was announced?
I missed getting the betas.

That sounds strange. Why would you announce that your latest edition of your software is out and then not ship it until a month or two later.

Yeah, some Marketing people have a very different/strange way of viewing the world sometimes.

I heard about the new 2008 Camaro over a year ago. Not available until end of this year.
Same thing. Marketing is weird.

The other thing that's ironic is...you can buy a copy now. But yet for the one's who have the subcription service, we have to wait.

I think I'm gonna send an I-rate email to solidworks. We should be amongst the first to get copies.

I sent an email to Solidworks expressing my disbelief that we (subscription service members) did not receive our copies first.
It was a gentle yet stern email.

Don't get me wrong. I can wait just like the rest. Besides, our IT dept doesn't install new releases until the second service pack comes out.
I'm gonna install it on my home computer and see what it is like. I just noticed that beta 4 of 2008 is available on the SW beta site (posted on last friday).

So what are the new customers getting? Beta release?

It only states that it's available for purchase now...doesn't necessarily mean you'll actually get it yet.

It depends how it is read, but if it was only "available for purchase" it should state, "SolidWorks 2008 is available now for purchase in 13 languages ..."

Better yet, "SolidWorks 2008 is now available now for purchase ...".

They did the same thing last year and these same quesitons that you guys are talking about were said then... it's just a way of getting marketing Hype I am sure... but if the program is still in beta then its not ready to be released... It still has to go through Pre-release as well.
