Suspend Slab Spec.

What spec governs the tolerance for finished floor tolerance for suspended slabs on metal deck? I’m not sure if it would fall under ACI 117 or not.

I have a suspended slab that was suppose to slope but it doesn’t. The contractor is saying that the slab is within tolerance and I would like to know which tolerance this falls under.

Oh, this project is in the US and generally is following the IBC-03.

If the slab is supposed to slope but doesn't, it doesn't satisfy the basic requirement of the design. How much slope did you specify?

The slope was very slight, somewhere around 1/16"/foot. The purpose was to drain water from a floor. Not massive amounts of water either. It appears that the contractor poured the floor level instead of following the slope of the structure.

From the research I have done since this post, it appears that the slab spec/tolerance does fall under ACI 117-90 (in this instance).

ACI 117 says that the maximum variation in thickness is -1/4" to +3/8". In accordance with this, the slab is not within tolerance and therefore not withing spec.
