I'm currently involved in a potential repair / strengthening of a pipeline at a railway crossing. We are able to expose it to effect a repair / strengthening system.
One option is to use a clock spring type repair for the external corrosion. All well and good - well known systems exist.
The issue is that the client has concerns over the effectiveness of this type of repair with respect to vibration from the rail crossing.
Personally I think it is trying to prove a negative and with no data to work with it isn't possible to do much with this type of concern. However I would like to know if anyone else has come across something similar and whether you've got to be looking at continuous vibration or not. We're trying to get data from the vendor(s) but not sure if this is something which has been looked at or arisen because of a failure or what.
