I have a drawing with a surface finish callout followed by the acronym "UDS". Can anyone tell me what this stands for?

My guess is the intent was to indicate "Unless Otherwise Specified", or UOS....

This should help.

Code:
[URL unfurl="true"]http://206.112.82.159/s_csi/sec.asp?TRACKID=&CID=126&DID=6042[/URL]

Not used very much from my experience.

That seems to be one of the most common uses of UDS, but doesn't really apply here. I think it's a red herring in my case.

Unless Drawing Specifies (UDS).
which also means:
Unless Noted Otherwise (UNO).
Unless Otherwise Shown (UOS).

I suspect the drawing is self explanatory in that it show’s some specific finishes and the note is added to show what finish is required when not specified.

e.g. 125 (UDS)
