Hi

I am very new to abaqus and i want to do Thermal analysis between two different materials(for ex steel and glass fused together by enamelling(a decorative tech) process).

I want to define an interaction(mechanical) between the materials.

i have tried most of the interactions (surface to surface ,selfcontact etc.,)

Will anybody suggest me the type of interaction which suits more?

thankyou

If you have perfect contact between the materials then no interaction is needed as conductivity will be implicit in a single part. If you've not made a single part with multiple materials then just tie the two surfaces together. If you're running some kind of coupled thermal-stress analysis where the surfaces can separate then you can define conductivity between the two surfaces dependent on pressure together with radiation which will be dependent upon the gap size.

hi Corus

thx much

i am very new to ABAQUS cud u tell me how to make a single part with different materials? By partitioning?

plz explin me in CAE

ya im using coupled temp displacement step

thx again

exp ur reply

Yes - with a single part use partitions to create multiple cells (if solid model) or faces (if shell model)...

Create materials and then sections. Assign these sections to the various regions of the model.

Done!
