Has anyone seen a need for support rings around a vessel or pipe where a burst/rupture disk is located? Can the thrust force from the disk exceed the internal pressure force and cause the pipe/vessel to collapse?

The reinforcement for the nozzle of a relief device is done when the nozzle is designed. Rarely is it necessary to strengthen the entire vessel cross section.
