SUMO fitting suitable?

So here's the deal.

I've got 2 "identical" homogeneous polyethylene storage tanks ≈10,000 gallons each. One was replaced as new a few years ago before I started here and we are planning on replacing the second one soon. They share an outlet pipeline in-series with both tanks using flexible connections between their outlets and the pipe. The one to be replaced is being proposed with a SUMO fitting as the tank outlet, but the one that was previously installed uses a bolted flange. The outlet pipe and the tank outlet isn't perfectly aligned (a separate issue not yet addressed), so I would think the bolted flange would hold up to stress better than a SUMO would.

We use SUMO fittings in a lot of other tanks without issue, but the connections aren't as large and those tanks aren't as critical to daily operations as these two are in the case of repair downtime.

Am I incorrect in my thinking? Would a SUMO fitting be fine in this case and I'm just being overly worried?

By the way, these tank contents are strong acids and the piping is PTFE lined PVC if that makes any difference.

Oh, and the little digging I did get a chance to do on this indicates to me the bolted flange option is good for what I'm trying to do, but I wasn't able to find anything to indicate whether one would be better or worse for whatever reason.

I am coming from a place of ignorance on this topic, so if this is a dumb question or I didn't provide enough information to even approach it, I'd appreciate anyone's opinion who could tell me so.
