I have been assigned the task to review some submittals. I never checked submittals for Concrete Mix design and Concrete Accessories. From what I understand I need to make sure the mix design shows the strength I specified in the drawings? Do I also need to check the samples average based on ACI recommendations etc .. ?

Is there anything else I need to check in the mix design ?
What specifically do I need to check in the concrete accessories submittal ?

These are questions for your supervisor. If they gave you the assignment, they should explain what they expect you to do.

Unfortunately my boss left a bit ago and now I am just left by myself to figure this out.

Does he have a phone? This isn't something you "just figure out." Either your company has a written procedure, or they need to explain it to you. We could lay out a general list, but it may not be complete for your project and your 'approval' could have a significant negative impact.

Samwise-

Is this a project that has a set of specifications issued with the drawings & contract documents?

If so, check your specifications. There might be a concrete specification for the project.

Then, all you have to do is compare the contractor's submittal to the specification. Hopefully, the specification cites required PSI, ASTM standards for mix; along with water content etc...

I often do stuff that I don't have a full set of information. I use a set of 'Exceptions' (to Constrtuction Documents) and outline the criteria I've used, and my work is predicated on this. Due to my experience, I have a reasonably good idea of what most of the problems are. The construction docmuents may differ, but the work is OK with the exceptions included.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Thanks a ton, so I opened the specs that were written by someone else and started comparing the criteria called in that vs the submittal that I received. Basically checking for W/C ratio, Air Entrainment , admixture/fly ash content etc. Just wanted to check if these are the main items I need to be looking at.

Maybe, it depends what your role is in the process, what practice standards are in your area, what your contract documents say and how worried you are about the quality of the thing being reviewed.

A concrete mix review can be as little as checking that the strength and exposure class match or exceed the requirements and as much as checking the actual mix proportions, work procedures, vendor q/c, tests of past uses of the mix, graduations and components of constituent materials and all target values.
