How to classify a braced column and unbraced column?

For example if there's a wind resisting beam column frame, the columns in the frame are braced/unbraced?

Its all about the position of the top of the column relative to the bottom, if you have a cross braced structure then this movement is minimal and can usually be ignored in analysis.

Think in these terms and you should be able to answer your own question.
