Hi folks,

I've searched on here and google, and am having trouble finding a good book covering typical structural details. What's your favorite book? I'm looking for typical ways folks do details, to stop myself from reinventing the wheel.

No coworkers' desks to raid when you run your own company...

thanks,
Linnea

AISC used to publish books called "Structural Steel Detailing". The latest one I have is from 1973!!!!
Typical beam and column details never really change.
This edition still has rivets in it!

Thanks, Toad. Any thoughts on one covering a broader scope? Foundations/concrete/wood/masonry?

oops....thought you were only talking structural steel.

Take a look at "Building Construction Illustrated" by Francis Ching. Also, there's a lot of masonry information available from the Brick Institute of America and the National Concrete Masonry Association.

The updated AISC manual is called "Detailing for Steel Construction".
