My question is about temporary structures such as tents for parties, roofs for tennis courts used when raining, large tents used for exhibitions, etc.

in the following I will call the membrane or sheeting "textile"probably it has another name?

1/-Which type of textile is used for these roofs ( I assume its should be light, fire resistant, water proof, cheap, easy to handele, to cut, ..all contradictory requirements)

2/- how to calculate such structures, probably there is a frame, with connections.
Which loads : own weight , wind ( how to model the wind)
water ponding or measures to avoid it...

3/-how to fix the "textile" to the frame ??

Can some help me ?
do you know a practical book treating this subject?
is this handled by an ASCE standard or something else ?
Can you send me a worked example ??
Is there a specific software for this type of structural job?
Could you give a name or brand of this "textile".

Thanks a lot

Are you going to start manufacturing these? If not buy/rent from well established firms. If yes, then buy a few and look at the connections, the tensile strength of the fabric. As well as anything else you can think of. Anchoring, etc. Wind and water loads will be your primary issues.
