It is commonly known that for the MRI setting in the hospitals, special structural considerations need to be given to topics such as floor vibration, non-ferrous steel, etc.
For the NMR setting in the typical research lab, do the same concerns should be addressed?

Quite possibly. It's definitely something that I'd confirm with the owner. It would suck to spend a bundle on a new facility and not have it be fit for it's primary function.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Thank you for your thoughts, KootK.

Depending on the research lab, the machines may be more powerful. Cambridge University chem eng department has put in an awful lot of stainless rebar for their new lab Link Link
