I'm attempting to make a rough estimate of stresses due to mechanical bending of a sch 40 PVC tee. What are some good sources for a stress concentration factor?
I assume that what's generally available are stress concentration factors for hoop stresses from internal pressure. How about for bending loads?
To make matters worse, what I have is not a tee but a furniture fitting that's a tee with a 4th branch coming out of the tee plane (to create a corner of a cube with a leg coming off the bottom, if that makes any sense).
I'm just looking for a rough number to give me a preliminary estimate.
Also, does anybody know of a design guide or any mfgr's info for PVC pipe structures?
I just discovered this site yesterday - it's really cool. I'm really looking forward to interacting with the forums.
Thanks for your help.
