Strength of polystyrene 1

Hello

I am wanting to assess the strength of polystyrene and have obtained a data-sheet for the material we are going to use Attached).

I am not sure why there are two compressive strengths (@1% and @10%). I suspect it may be due to the compression of the material.

Can anyone educate me on the meaning of the values, please.

I don't know but could it refer to the compressive strengths after 1% and 10% plastic deformation, respectively? Just a guess. I suspect that somewhere in their literature they will explain it. And if it is what I guessed at make sure your system can take that amount of deformation.
 
The % number indicates the deformation under the load.

I believe the 10% number is typical for simple insulation. The 1% number is what you would use for structural fill. ie under full loading you would not want your insulation fill to compress and 10% of its thickness. Some manufacturers also list 5%.
