We have two industrial (150klb/hr) watertube boilers with Detroit Stoker reciprocating feeders. We are researching an upgrade to their underthrow coal distributors. DSC says they do not have any competitors due to the small stoker boiler market. Has anyone had any experience with other companies that we can compare technologies and/or generate competitive offers?

Also, if anyone has had experience with this type of retrofit, were there any quanitfiable combustion efficiency gains? DSC will not commit to anything.

I can't speak for now but Stock Equipment when they were a stand alone company had stoker equipment (not spreader) that would have competed with DSC. They have been through some buy outs and I don't have a feel for who they are today as a company now, but they are worth a shot. Do some googling. Key words, "Stock" "Equipment" "Feeders" "Gravimetric"
