Stepper Speed and Location Control

Hi all,

Iv'e purchased (ebay) a linear rail for a DIY CNC machine, it came with a NEMA11 stepper and a microstep driver (DM320).

I'm guessing that the driver is a generic product, as i looked for the datasheet and i found lots of references but nothing exactly the same (DM320C, DM320T, 2H from MakerBlock etc.).

Regarding the 2H driver from MakerBlock, it had a library (which i found but didn't install yet) for controlling the position, acceleration and speed of the stepper.
I wish to avoid connecting additional components to the setup, so everything will run through the driver.

Is it safe to try the 2H library with the driver i have, or it can be damaged by bricking it or burning a circuit?

If anybody has any experience with that particular microstep driver (the DM320) I'll appreciate the help.

Unless I'm missing your intent or how you expect your system to work it should be fine.

The limits and protection are done in the drive not your program or 'library'. If you set the switches to limit current to what your stepper motors are rated for and supply the correct voltage levels to the DM320 and wire the motors up to the DM320 correctly (they should be 4 wire), it should work fine. Your library and the computer you run it on should result in simply a DIRECTION output and PULSEs for single driver steps.
