Looking for advice for stem wall construction on cretaceous limestone. Typical practice is compacted fill with slab on grade in this area, but I'd like to explore the option of pinning the foundation directly to the limestone.
I haven't had any core samples taken yet but I assume the bearing capacity to be around 4,000 psf.
Is there any merit to this option? I'm going to work with a local geotech to finalize details but I wanted to start with those who may be familiar with such a practice.
Location is Central Texas; I don't believe frost heave will be an issue.
