I am taking .375" dia 1008 steel wire from a coil and flattening it to .310" with a flattening mill and then feeding it into a progressive die with a servo feed via profiled, driven, pinch rolls. The die has two stationary rollers and a third adjustable roller set in between the two stationary ones. The steel wire will be fed thru the rollers to form a radii of 8.50" (like a roll bender). Everything is in the horizontal plane. How do I calculate the thrust required to push the wire thru the rollers?
