Steel Plate HSB 50 s Nb

I am currently working on replacing the floor in an existing crude storage tank. The problem is that the existing drawings show that the shell plate is HSB 50 Nb and trying to find a compatible plate to use for the annular ring. I am looking for the specifications for this plate or at least the material group in API 650 / 653.

I would guess this was US Steel or Bethlehem or some other companies nomenclature for a steel grade. You might try reposting in the "Boiler and Pressure Vessel Engineering" forum, which sees a bit more action than this one.

Okay, found this is the second posting already on the question!

Doing some google searching. HSB could be Hartford Steam Boiler- prominent company in insurance/inspection of boilers and pressure vessels. NB could be National Board. Now, I have no clue why a tank drawing would reference HSB & NB if that's what the reference is. I don't know what the 50 would be. Normally, the steel would be ASTM A-36 or ASTM A-131 Gr. B or something like that. I'm not aware that Hartford has or ever had steel specifications.

By the way, how big is the tank? How old is the tank? And does the tank nameplate or the drawings of the nameplate show a material?

Mr. TK104. According you is necessary change some bottom plates,so maybe this crude tank is more of 10 years old. It is probably that the material could be ASTM A-36 but if you need be sure, one PMI (positive material identification)is a option. I am sure that after the PMI you will be without doubt.
