No clue about steel piles, but recently worked on some steel rail bridges and the coal dust accumulating on the bridge from passing coal trains was causing some corrosion issues. Curious to hear some opinions.
Can sheet piling be driven through coal? Soft bituminous coal? Hard anthracite coal? Do you have any soil borings with SPT blow counts or cores for the coal seams?
