Can anybody give me some guidance about the design of orthotropic deck design to BS 5400:3?

I have a look at 9.10.2 which deals with the design of stiffened flange and it seems that effect of buckling of the steel plate is not taken into accout...............

Troitsky is the industry staple on orthotropic bridges. Perhaps there is something there that will aide your work. Unfortunately I am not familar with the British Standards.
