I posted the next most recent thread last week concerning the top mixture for a steel hinge belt for erosion testing. Now I need to know if the same casting adhesive that I am using in the mixture for the grit would be the correct choice for the bottom of the belt. Steel hinge belts do not use the standard rollers like most conveyor belts. They use sprockets at the turning points instead of rollers. Since I will be placing a large amount of force on the belt I will be running it over a large roller which will need to run smoothly on the bottom of the belt. In order to protect the hinges I need to build up the bottom of the belt so that nothing will deform them and hinder their ability to function correctly. This is why I would like to cast another adhesive on the bottom of the belt in order to protect it. Is a 2-part urethane adhesive the correct choice? If anyone has another idea to protect the hinges then please post! Thanks ahead of time!
