Steel Beam w/ Wood Nailer - Lateral Bracing

I have a steel beam in a residential appliation that has a wood nailer place bolted to the top of it. I am wondering how one can achieve proper lateral bracing using wood screws attaching the wood top plate of the beam to the wood joists (which are @ 16" o.c.)

Most literature I read refers to brace points at a minimum distance appart. This type of lateral bracing is more or less "continuous".

Any thoughts?

Sounds like the beam is braced to me.

I figure it is braced too, but isn't there a lateral force per screw that each screw needs to be able to resist.

As long as these are decent sized screws - sound good to me. Many builders just put a nail either side of top flange into the joists above. Seems to work OK
