I am designing a roof with a 12:12 pitch. Want to use steel bar joists (span parallel to slope), but am concerned about how to detail the seat and bearing condition. I have a joist catalog that provides seat heights for slopes only up to 8:12. Does anyone have information on seat heights, or any sage advice on things to watch out for? Bearing is on CMU at low end, structural steel beam at high end. Thanks.

Try calling Vulcraft at one of the following (if you're in the US):

Alabama: 256-845-2460
Indiana: 260-337-1800
Nebraska: 402-644-8500
South Carolina: 843-662-0381
Texas: 936-687-4665
Utah: 435-734-9433
New York: 607-529-9000

Otherwise, try another local joist manufacturer's technical dept.
