My company is interested in purchasing a portable static cone penetrometer. The type with a fluid pressure gauge is available from a number of sources and typically costs around $640. One manufacturer sells a digital version containing a load cell that costs about $250 more. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether the digital type is worth the extra money?
