Dear Sirs,

I have a doubt because When welding Pipe Stainless Steel 304L use the filler rod 308-L.

But in this case used filler rod 316-L, what happen in the future Their Consequences.

Please let me know its Consequences metallurgy ...

May have major consequence if system operates in the an environmenmt where "metal dusting" can occur on 316. For many other services there will be little or no consequence.

In this case the metallurgical consequences depend on the certain service environment. If for example it is for a carburizing environment that may cause metal dusting of SS 316 at high pressures and high temperatures (please have a look at this link: then of course you shall verify the construction in metallurgical point of view
