SS Stability

In Astropysics equip there is a tendancy to use SS for bearing elements
No rust
I worry that some parts I make such as a bearing elements from 316, at dimensions 120
x 60 by 12 thick out of bright bar

What is your estimate of stability over time with out heat treat

The 316 stainless steel should be very stable for this application.

The material will be stable.
You just need to work within its low strength and high thermal expansion.
