You can in principle have and use any flange standard you want, as long as you do not use a standard for lower pressure than the max pressure for the valve.
Normally you will start the 'other way around': the suppliers standard and recommandations for the valve. By larger valves special solutions with pinbolts and or adaption pieces might be necessary. Smaller valves for lower pressures might hapve wider boltears and be bolted with fewer bolts than provided boltholes to the two standard counterflanges.
Most important, especially for larger valves, is correct mounting (+ drection), proper own, support for the valve, and a high quality valve suitable for the fluid and without pockets where dirt can assemble.
