Hello all, I am currently designing a detergent powder spray dryer and have been at stand still for quite some time. I’m confused as to how I can calculate the diameter of my tower. My chosen nozzles are pressure nozzles ( operating at 80 bar ) with a spray angle of 36.7 degrees. There are 10 nozzles in total ( arrangement is yet to be confirmed, suggestions would be appreciated ). The velocity of my detergent slurry being released from the nozzles is around 100 m/s. The only information I have is the above, temperatures, physical properties of the slurry and drying air such as density and dynamic viscosity. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Total slurry mass flow rate = 27117 kg/h hence through each nozzle it is 2711.7 kg/h
Total inlet flow rate of drying air = 103789 kg/h
