I want to produce a spiral bevel gear and was going to use the straight bevel gear produced by Solidworks as the basis. The way Solidworks produces these is such that i can't save it to a different name and modify it.
I can copy and paste the sketches but that would be laborious and prone to error.
I've converted the SW file to both a STEP and IGES file and opened in SW but it is not possible to edit the resulting part.
Is there a way of making the SW generated bevel gear editable?

Are you getting it from the SolidWorks toolbox?
