I have run into some problems with drafting in CATIA v5. I have opened an existing CATIA drawing file and added some dimensions and specifications in order to complete the drawing. When i printed out the drawing, I found that some of the dimensions were much lighter than the others. When I then went back to look at them on the screen, some of the lighter dimensions were red and some were dark grey, but the darker grey dimensions were not distinguishable from the actual black dimensions unless you were comparing the two.

I realize what the red dimensions are and how to get rid of them, but how can I handle the darker gray dimensions? I have already tried deleting and redimensioning these areas and the dimensions turn up the same color as before.

I am also aware that if you make a dimension driving it will turn blue. I was wondering if the dark grey might be an indication of an actual dimensioning problem or inconsistency.

thanks, BT

Hi,

You can check and change what different dimension colors means on your settings.
Open Tools - Options... - Mechanical Design - Drafting - Dimension tab and click 'Types and colors...' button.

Check your plot options. You are probably plotting in greyscale. Try plotting in Black & White. That should take care of it.
