how can I calculate Hansen solubility parameters of liquid pharmaceutical excipients for oral drug delivery?
is it possible to determine saturation amount of liquid excipient in typical solvent as ethanol or acetone?
thanks

Dear Tp51

There are various options for doing this.

1. Use group contribution approach available online (eg:
2. More advanced "plotting" approches based on whatever solubility data you have available.

For calculating direct solubility one can use Scatchard/Hildebrand theory -- but it will be a rough estimate. Personally I have had more luck in applying local thermodynamic models - however these require some form of experimental data.

Let me know if this is still something you are working on -- I'll be happy to try to guide you in the right direction.

Best regards

Peter
