SolidWorks start?

I tried to install SolidWorks 2007 in to my computer, it seemed to have been well installed, but when I tried to run the program, I immediately got the message

A problem was encountered accessing the proper security device. The device may be missing or have invalid information. The application will terminate immediatel.

I tried to re install 2006 but got the same message. Any ideas please....

Have you got the dongle inserted in the USB port?

What exactly is a dongle? I've been attempting to install the same version of solidworks for independent study, and get the same error message. I've seen "dongle" pop up on a few threads.
