I'm looking for a method of welding two dissimilar wire materials (Nitinol & 304 SS) together. The wires are ranging in diameter from .030” to .005”.
The problem with Nitinol and stainless joining is the forming of a brittle intermetallic compound TiFe. This is why I need solid state joining such as friction or explosive welding. Does any one know of a method that can achieve a sound solid-state weld on wires of these small diameters? Or does anyone have another joining method they think might work?
