I have an academic version of Solid Edge and I don't have the install file or repair file. When I click on it the splash screen comes up and it acts like it is loading then it just disappears. I was wondering if there was any simple solution without having to get the install file. I called tech support and they told me that it was a graphics card issue which seems like a crock to me because (and I told them this) it was working fine about a week and a half ago. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

it might be the case that your Startup file is damaged. It's
located here:

C:\Program Files\Solid Edge V20\Program\ResDLLs\0009\STARTUP
(SEStartup.html)

The registry entry to the startup is here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\Version 20\Global
"StartupScreenFile"="C:\\Program Files\\Solid Edge V20\\Program\\ResDLLs\\0009\\startup\\SEStartup.htm"

Also there seems to be a problem with SP2 if you have that installed recently.

/Edit

you could disable the startup screen by setting this key
to Null: ShowStartupScreen (it's s Dword) Location is
below the above mentioned ...\Global just to see whether
it does work then ..

How do i change it to null? I don't see any option for that in regedit

select the key (ShowStartupScreen) --> RMB --> Modify --> key in 0 --> OK
leave regedit

Thanks a lot for the help. It still isn't working, but I think I am going to have to locate a cd and repair it. Thanks again though.
